Pogonomyrmex salinus

Another unusually aggressive Pogonomyrmex salinus worker in central Oregon. This is the classic Pogonomyrmex defensive posture - mandibles open, and antennae pointing forward. This ant appeared to be reacting to one of the protruding flash-heads of the camera.
