Pogonomyrmex salinus carcass (with attached debris). Presumably, the Pogo remains were being taken back to the
Pheidole nest, about .6m / 2ft away. It is likely that the Pogo had been killed earlier by a spider (silk/web was present, and can be seen in these images).
